Where to start? I suppose with the cels themselves or I suppose I should go back to the comic books. I college I was a math major, surrounded with equations,I studied them because I saw a sort of untouchable beauty. I loved the graceful way they developed and turned, I saw the same development of lines in the cover art of Dave Mckean. So Sandman it was, I have the statues the art books everything! At the time the only animation that I watched over and over were the Last Unicorn and Watership Down. The only anime I was exposed to was of the Hentai nature. But even in these I saw the beautiful designs of the characters. I admit the first anime I bought was the “La Blue Girl” series. I was looking for the sequel on the Central Park web site when I stumbled across some animation cels they had for sale. I bought this darling cel of Kei from Iria it was all over after that. The Sandman had come to an end with an incredible collaboration between Neil Gainman and yes Yoshitaka Amano and a new obsession had begun.......

The collection remained very small for almost 5 years, but in the last two it has literally exploded! I blame DSL. My tastes still run very dark and Vertigo in style and I seem to have a thing for Yellow eyes (perhaps it is because my last cat had vivid yellow peepers). I’m trying to focus the collection but I’m easily distracted by shiny things. I no longer make my living with math, structural analysis just doesn’t hold the same artistic beauty as the theory behind it, I’m a chef now. Big jump I know but I’m happier, I still wish I could paint though.
